The renovation of ‘Plasa Nobo’ continues

Why renovate?

The maintenance and renovation of the ‘Plasa Nobo’ contributes to one of the goals of the government; to modernize the building, increase the level of security for the user and visitors and improve the hygiene.

‘Plasa Nobo’ plays an important role in our city center. It is a building with a unique design, located in a very central and accessible location. Furthermore, as is the case with markets worldwide, our ‘Plasa Nobo’ is a center for economic activities and a meeting place where people can come to socialize, buy available products, eat and drink something.

The current reparations

In March 2024, the minister signed an agreement with Jemar Building & Construction NV to officially initiate the procedures to begin repair work on the current building, starting with the replacement of the current pillars.

The works on the building already started in 2022 repairing the roof  of the ‘Plasa Nobo’, but all other repairs were greatly delayed as it was found that the pillars that supported the roof were in poor conditions. Due to this, the experts analyzed the situation and recommended paying attention to the pillars before continuing.

Apart from the pillars, repairs will also be carried out on the concrete on the ceiling and the situation of the electricity and sewage system in the market. These are currently the most urgent repairs. Upon completion, we will go on to make the whole building more beautiful and attractive.

The minister indicates that it is the intention to give a whole new face to the ‘Plasa Nobo’ building; with attractive and innovative functions apart from the daily functions of a market. This will attract visitors both during the day and nightly hours which will continue to contribute to more economic activities and revitalize our city.
