Press release: Launch of Mi Negoshi Shared & Support Services

Empowering Entrepreneurs for a Thriving Economy

WILLEMSTAD — Driven by a commitment to strengthen Curaçao’s business ecosystem, the Ministry of Economic Development (MEO), in collaboration with the Stichting Beheer MKB Fondsen under the Curaçao Chamber of Commerce, officially launched Mi NEGOSHI Shared & Support Services on November 29. This initiative represents a milestone in providing direct support and guidance to micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) on the island.

The creation of Mi NEGOSHI Shared & Support Services emerged from a shared commitment by MEO and the Chamber of Commerce to provide direct and effective assistance to entrepreneurs. This initiative was formalized on March 5 with the signing of the Uitvoeringsovereenkomst (Implementation Agreement), laying the foundation for this innovative program. With funding from MEO and the expertise and collaboration of Stichting Beheer MKB Fondsen, this initiative has become a reality, establishing a comprehensive hub of support for Curaçao’s entrepreneurs.

“Our mission at the Ministry of Economic Development is to empower our entrepreneurs, and today, with the launch of Mi NEGOSHI Shared & Support Services, we are putting this mission into practice,” stated Minister Cooper during the launch. “This center is more than just a facility; it is a commitment to our local businesses, where we provide them with all the necessary tools, resources, and a supportive community to help them succeed. We believe that every entrepreneur, whether micro, small, or medium, deserves the opportunity to realize their potential and contribute to our economy.”

Located at Kaya Junior Salas #8, Mi NEGOSHI Shared & Support Services will be a comprehensive center offering tailored resources, mentorship, and shared services specifically designed to meet the needs of MSMEs. It will serve as a dedicated space where entrepreneurs can collaborate, receive support, and build a solid foundation for their businesses.

This initiative is part of MEO’s broader strategy to stimulate growth within the MSME sector, a crucial component of Curaçao’s economy. MSMEs account for 98% of all businesses on the island, contribute 30% to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), and provide employment to 60% of the workforce.

“This initiative is the result of teamwork, vision, and dedication from everyone who contributed. We are proud to support our entrepreneurs and offer them the resources they deserve. Together, we are working towards a more prosperous and resilient future for Curaçao,” added Minister Cooper.

The Ministry of Economic Development and Stichting Beheer MKB Fondsen of the Chamber of Commerce invite all entrepreneurs to visit Mi NEGOSHI Shared & Support Services at Kaya Junior Salas #8 to discover how this initiative can support the growth of their business or future ventures. This launch not only marks the beginning of a service but also opens a new chapter in business development on the island.
