Disaster Risk Preparedness Expo

About the event

On June 7 and 8 2024, the government  of Curaçao will organize and expo with the theme of being well prepared for the eventuality of disasters and risks.

The government has instituted 10 Emergency Support Functions (ESF), each with the task of activating in different sectors and specific areas in the event of a crisis or calamity. For example, the ESF 1 is in charge of Water and energy, ESF 4 with the responsibility of rescue and security and ESF 7 with social affairs.

The  expo will be free for the public to come and gain as much information as possible on the topics of preparedness

MEO’s role in preparedness awareness in disasters and risks

In the event of a crisis or disaster, it is necessary to also pay attention to the economic aspect of our country; how our country is economically affected by the situation.

For this, the ESF 10 was established, of which our ministry is in charge.

You can think of, for example, the effects on tourism (tourists currently on the island during a crisis and those planning to visit in the near future), hotels, our ports, commerce, entrepreneurs in affected areas (especially during storms and natural disasters), the logistic sector, financial services and much more.

Come and learn more about our involvement as ESF 10 and also visit all the other 9 ESFs during this upcoming expo.
